Una Chica

I'm a walking zombie today. I couldn't sleep last night, so I've been up for over 36 hours and I'm really dragging here. Had to wash C's gym shorts and run them to school for him in time for 3rd period gym, so no chance of sleep there. Then I had to stay up so I could take Miss Maggie and Oliver to the vet at 2pm. Maggie got all of her puppy shots and she's good for the next year, except for heartworm preventative. Unfortunately, poor poor Oliver had to have a sleepover with them tonight. He's been cat-fighting around the hood lately and he's looking pretty haggard. And he's getting tons of ear mites and hates for us to mess with him for treatment. So they'll take care of all of his cuts and bruises and the mites. yuck. And on a very sad and disturbing note, I must give the worst news yet. He is getting his goodies trimmed. No more candy in the candy machine. The water cooler is going dry. The cookie has crumbled for poor Mr. O. Yup, he's getting neutered today. It's a very sad day indeed.



Now, we're off for some fun. The circus has come to town and that will round out my day. Hopefully I can stay awake. :D

Bye bye pretty girl.

It is a very sad day today. Envy has passed away. With old age and arthritis, it became too much for her and she just went peacefully in her sleep. We've lost her a second time now. She was a very wonderful dog. Miss you, girl.

Well, I gotta let go of 2 of my babies. Americus and Reese are going to a great couple. It's just too much for me to handle right now. 3 kids, 3 dogs, 1 adult cat and the 9 kittens D. and I rescued from the soccer fields 4 weeks ago. I'm plum worn out. So is my checkbook. I hate to let them go, but it's either that or my sanity. Oh, and the boys aren't happy with me. They think I'm the meanest mom in the world. They told me so. In exactly those words. Here's what I think. Mean is what I do best. Sad but true. I'm evil. I'm sorry it has to be this way. But those are the facts, folks. :|

wow, these kittens sure are needy! lol

They eat faster than I can feed them. And they shit more than that, too! Seriously. I had to put them in the guest bathroom because I was worried about my 2 cats catching the ringworm with the strays in the big kennel in the living room. My kitten kept playing with them through the bars. So in the bathroom those little rascals went. Now it stinks in there. It's as noisy as any bawling baby I've every heard. Constant. Ear-splitting. Drive-me-crazy noisy. But they're so darned cute! Every time I go to open the bathroom door so I can check up on them and feed/water them, I have to use a broom and all 8 of my legs to keep them in there until I can get in and close the door. Then the crying goes from bawling to screaming. And they're jumping all over the sink, the tub, the toilet. I can't count how many times I've swept and mopped in there and they've only been here for 5 days. Good lord ... the litter I've had to scoop. and smell. ewwwww

these adorable little cats have ringworm and ear mites.

I took them to a vet who provides medical care to rescued animals for a small fee from the humane society. This nice lady at the H.S. is going to take care of all of the financial burden (medically) and I'll care for them and give them the meds the dr. gave me. It was so sad. He had to put one of them to sleep because the ringworm was really severe and he didn't see any hope for it. It also had an infection in its eye. But it sure was scrappy. They're all so full of energy. And noisy. :)

Tonight at soccer practice, D. and I rescued 8 teeny tiny kittens from the fields. We had no choice. A lot of the kids were kicking dirt on them and then squirting water from their water bottles at them. And some of the parents were kicking them away. They didn't want to get their precious fingers dirty. These kittens look sooo pitiful. They look like they might have ringworm or mange. They are definitely dehydrated and starving. But does that matter to anyone? Nope, not one bit. These fields are out by the highway and not right in town. Someone had to have abandoned them out there. And they were so starving for affection, they kept wandering onto the fields to be petted and picked up. Even if it meant suffering for it.

That is crap. I'm going to call the humane society and some vets here in town to get help for them. It just breaks my heart.

I gots me a new baby! His name is Reese and he is just adorable. He is Americus' brother, younger by 3 years. He's only 6 weeks old. Very tiny and sleepy. I'll put some photos in here soon.
